How does the Player Matching Program work and what will I get from it?

The Tennis Round Automatic Player Matching service automatically searches for tennis players that might be a good match for you, and when someone agrees to play, it sends you a match confirmation email. Depending on your location and skill level, as well as the concentration of players in your area, you could get 3-4 confirmed matches every month. You can also report your match results and earn points to advance in the official rankings. The program costs $6.99 per month or $29 per year. You can start and stop your subscription at any time.

How do I cancel my subscription to the paid Premium Plan and Automatic Player Matching service?

To cancel your paid subscription please login to your account from www.tennisround.com/login and go to My Profile (top right). Then under Plan click on Cancel My Subscription. This will cancel your paid Premium Plan and the Automatic Player Matching service. You will still be able to access your account and use Tennis Round with a Basic Free Trial plan, but you won't be able to send unlimited messages and Tennis Round will no longer look for tennis players for you.

I'm not getting any responses from players. What’s wrong?

First of all - give it some time. Different cities have different dynamics and people’s lives can get busy. Tennis is not top priority for everyone. It might take people a few days to get back to you.

Check your profile and make sure you have a picture of yourself, not your pet or your car. We’re often connecting strangers, people who’ve never met before. Chances are they’ll respond to people with real profile pictures, instead of a blank avatar.

Check your current location. If you’re traveling you might want to mention that in your invite message - Hey I’m visiting Palm Springs for the weekend and looking to play some tennis. Are you in town? How about Sat 7pm? - or something like that. If you’re on the road or on vacation for a few weeks you might want to even change your location and your home court in your profile during that time. Otherwise people might not see this as a legitimate invite, or just think you’re too far from them.

Make sure you’re inviting people at your skill level. If you’re 3.0, stick to players at that level, or maybe 2.5 and 3.5. If you want to land a match with a much higher level player, say 4.0, you might want to ask them if they’d be willing to play with a lower level player. Playing up is a good way to build up your game, but realize it might be a compromise for the other player, who’s already probably trying to land matches with 4.5 level players.

Lastly, people tend to play within their age group. It’s only natural, as it’s a fairly physical sport and people’s running abilities tend to change with the years. So keep age in mind when you’re inviting other players.
